Counselling for Individuals
I am an experienced psychotherapist and counsellor and have worked with children, adolescents, adults and couples for the past decade and a half. I am forever humbled by my clients courage and bravery to make their lives feel and be better, to challenge unhelpful thoughts and let go of things that no longer serve them. Being alongside someone throughout this process is a unique privilege.
My sense and belief is, that the relational element of the therapeutic process is key to meeting and working together. Feeling held, heard and seen is a powerful experience that we don’t frequently get elsewhere in life, a time for you to begin to explore your feelings and thoughts without the worry or concern of what others might think, feel or how they might respond.
I endeavour to hold a warm, supportive, compassionate and empathetic space for you, where you can speak confidentially, and feel safe, respected and heard without judgment.
.
I completed my initial therapeutic training in 2012 and have since increased my skills and training to be able to work therapeutically children, young people, adults and couples.
I am an accredited registered member of BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists) and NCPS (National Counselling and Psychotherapist Society) and Imago UK.
I am also a fully qualified and experienced Clinical Supervisor and have published articles in connection with the supervisory process.
Working with and being along someone as they explore their internal world is a humblering process. People are amazing and we are able to find answers within ourselves given the time, space and encouragement.
Below is the next steps of what would happen should like to meet with me, and the message me button will take you to my contact page to get in contact. I look forward to hearing from you.
The first step in reaching out from here is an invitation to either have a 15 minute free phone call or for us to arrange to meet for an initial session.
An initial session is a good way for you to meet me and to begin to see if you feel comfortable speaking with me and also to let me know what it is you would like to bring and explore in our counselling sessions.
When you make an initial appointment, this can take place either, in person or online.
An initial session lasts 30mins. From here you will be able to decide whether you feel you would like to work with me.
If you decide I am the counsellor for you, we will discuss and arrange a time which is mutually convenient. This will usually mean meeting at the same time each week, it will become your time and will usually remain the same for the duration of our time together.
Counselling sessions for individuals are 50 minutes long and can be short term, up to 6 weeks, or longer term. I do suggest that there is an initial commitment of 6 sessions, as I believe this gives us the opportunity to form the therapeutic relationship.
Towards the 6th session we will have an opportunity to review the counselling to see if you would like to continue beyond this point or whether you feel that you have gained what the goals you set out to achieve.
There is no set estimation of the duration of the counselling process, and I have worked with clients for short term work, meaning up to 6 sessions, to longer term, meaning open ended.
